Newport, OR – Oregon Coast Bank (OCB) is pleased to announce the promotion of Denise Rundell to Chief Operating Officer.
Rundell has enjoyed 27 years in financial services, including retail branch management across Oregon, Wisconsin, and Maine. Her family settled in Newport in 2012, and Rundell joined OCB in January 2024 as Director of Operations.
In just two years, she has already left a significant mark. She played a central role in the bank’s core system conversion in February 2025 and helped open OCB’s seventh branch location in Coos Bay that April. As COO, she now takes on an expanded scope overseeing all seven branches, leading training and development for operations staff and the Centralized Service Department. She is excited to collaborate with senior management to deliver the bank’s strategic plan and growth initiatives.
Rundell felt joining OCB was a full circle moment for her. Having grown up in a small rural timber community in Douglas County, she sees the bank’s commitment to industries like commercial fishing, forestry, tourism, and small business not as a differentiator but as a responsibility. “Where some financial institutions step back from certain sectors, we specialize in them,” she said. “Our bank truly serves the people that make up our communities.”
That people-first philosophy extends inward as well. “We are a family at Oregon Coast Bank that genuinely cares for each other and our customers, and that unwavering commitment to our coastal communities is something I’m proud to be a part of.”
Oregon Coast Bank is the only bank built by and for people on the coast. It was founded when 115 coastal families pooled their resources to establish a locally owned and operated bank; its assets now exceed $400 million. For decades, OCB has been dedicated to keeping dollars local and helping coastal businesses thrive.
